My dear readers….let’s sit down and have a cuppa tea, or coffee or whatever you chose to drink.
Because today I wanted to share a few things with you.
First, I want to share my news, even though it is not necessarily good news…that my faithful washer decided that after 12 years of service, it was tired and wanted to quit.
Ugh!
My front loading washer and dryer and drawers are not a common color.
They are Tango Red and of course, they don’t make that color anymore. The red is really a lighter brighter red, like the red vase on the shelf above the pair…but the lighting wasn’t too good today when I took the picture. There are red colors out there these days, but they are deeper reds, much like a merlot color.
The dryer works fine.
Sigh!
So now I have to make a choice of replacing the front loading washer and dryer and drawers to that all match, an expense that I am really not wanting to make at this time.
OR
Buy just a washer in white, which would be easy to match up later.
OR
Purchase a washer in the color that I would like, (stainless) and have it not look as good as it could look with a matching drawer? After all, it is not like it sits in the living room for all to see, who goes into one’s laundry room?
What are your thoughts or suggestions my dear readers?
More on that saga at a later date, although a decision needs to be made fairly soon as I would rather not go to a laundromat if I can help it.
Next up for discussion is travel.
I am planning a week-end trip in a couple months and I stumbled upon a new item, at least for me as I believe they have been around a while.
Oh, and by the way my friends, I don’t receive anything for recommending these, just so you know. 🙂
I just think these are pretty cool.
They are called luggage cubes and they fit so nicely into your carry-on luggage and I do believe they leave more room for shoes and other things.
I decided to try them so I bought a set in the tan color. (they come in several colors) and I grabbed a few of my clothes to see if the claim of packing lots more into your luggage was really true.
I have another confession to make, I DID NOT fold these items in the neatest rolls as I was doing an experiment to see how many I could get into each cube.
So please don’t judge my folding as I know that if I had been taking my time, I am sure I could have folded neater and gotten more items in the cubes. 🙂
So in this cube, which is the larger cube…I rolled up 2 pairs of jeans, 2 pairs of slacks and 1 pair of capri pants., I even stuck in a lightweight jacket and another top.
In the middle size cube, I rolled up 7 blouses and a night gown.
And in the smaller cube, I put 7 pair of undies and two bras.
And it all worked.
- Large measures approx. 17″L x 12″W x 4″H with 4 lb. max weight capacity
- Medium measures approx. 13″L x 9″W x 3-3/4″H with 3 lb. max weight capacity
- Small measures approx. 9″L x 7″W x 3-1/2″H with 2 lb. weight capacity
I believe one could get enough clothes in these cubes for at least a week or more.
The next advantage of these cubes is that when you unpack at a hotel, you can use the handle to lift them out of your suitcase and carry them to a drawer in your hotel room. You don’t have to remove the items from the cube, so your clothes stay clean. I really don’t think the hotel maids wipe out the drawers, but perhaps they do. Either way, my clothes can stay in the cube, zipped up until I need them.
Of course the extra room you have in your suitcase for shoes, etc depends on the size of your luggage. For this trial of the cubes, I used my smallest carry-on and had room for a pair of dressy shoes, a pair of tennis shoes and house slippers AND my make up bag in the top part of my suitcase, so I was not lacking in space.
In my opinion, the cubes work.
You can find these cubes here…and they are very reasonable if you are interested.
Have a great and wonderful Day.
Blessings Always

I thinks you should go with stainless steel because that’s what you really want. I think if you get white it will stick out like a sore thumb because you will say and I know you will that ( darn’it I should have gotten the stainless steel) because you walk that hallway how many times a day and YOU see it !! So get the stainless steel washer and pedestal. I think replacing just the washer will make you crazy. And then you won’t have to go to the expense of both washer and drier at this time. And both the stainless and the red will look fine until you have to replace the drier. 😘😘💙💙

Wonderful idea and Sis, you know me all too well….we purchased the pedestal and the washer in the black stainless! Apparently, they don’t make this one in stainless steel alone. 🙁
Isn’t it sad that the manufacturers actually intend for appliances to fail after a few years, as they don’t make any money on one lasting 25 years as in the olden’ days. We live in a throw away world and that is not good, in my opinion.

Wanted to tell you that I haven’t tried the hard boiled egg/plastic bowl peeling method yet as I’ve been sick with the flu so.. no cooking yet, just barely able to get out of bed. My washer went out recently but just replaced white with white but if there is a color you want go for it! Maybe you could get a good deal on washer/ dryer if you buy then together. We ended up doing that so I’m happy. The luggage cubes look like they organize clothes in a suitcase really nicely. I’m with you, not to sure if the wipe down inside of hotel dresser drawers. Now I know someone else wonders about that too!

So sorry to hear you have had the flu…we haven’t gotten it but I hear it is awful….hang in there and get well soon.
I am sure you will be able to try the egg/bowl system as it is getting close to Easter. Easter and April Fools are on the same day (the first) this year. 🙁
I really am digging the luggage cubes, they are so handy and keep my suitcase neat. I am looking forward to using them in a couple months we we go to Charleston.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope and pray you are on your feet again real soon.
