Cherry Pie Bars
I came across this recipe the other day and tried it again using cherry pie filling. It turned out very well, it is similar to a puff pastry/pie filling recipe.
One reason this recipe is so good, … it is adaptable with any pie filling. Peach, Apple, Blueberry…just to name a few.

- 1 cup softened butter
- 2 cups sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
- 3 cups flour
- 2 cans cherry pie filling
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees
- Cream butter and sugar
- Add beaten eggs and extracts
- Add flour and salt
- Mix well
- Spread half the better in a greased 9 X 13 baking pan
- Spread the pie filling on top
- Drop tablespoons of remaining batter over cherry pie filling
- Bake for 35 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
- Mix 1 cup of powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- 2 teaspoons milk
- Drizzle over cherry pie bars
