Folks, the color pink still dominates my thoughts these days…so you will see it infiltrated in various parts of this post.
I also wanted to share a few other things that some refer to as “digging it” or “drooling over”
I’m calling it “what I Fancy”!
So, without further ado….
What I Fancy these days….other than the color Pink.
First, I would like to show you something I bought last year and I have loved it so much, I want to share it with you.
As you know, this Blog is not a money making blog…(as if I don’t know that)…so I do not have any affiliate connotations.
Many of my blogger friends try to convince me to use affiliates as every “10 cents” adds up and growing up with more “less than” then “more than”, I can certainly understand that concept.
But I also know that many of our readers would rather read right through a post and not have so many “commercials”. LOL
Having said that, I may tell you where I bought something, but so far I have not given into the affiliate temptation, even though I know it does not cost the reader additional money if they should purchase the item…but a few cents go into the account of the blogger.
So when I mention where I got the item…please know that I am not receiving compensation for recommending it.
This is just me…with ‘confessions over the fence’.
Call it stupidity on my part or call it what you will.
It is what it is.
Today.
So what I fancy these days is this “Day Timer” or “Day Planner”, whatever you want to call it from I heart planners.
Laura Smith has put together the most inclusive planner and you only have to use what you need.
There is meal planning, business planning and all sorts of configurations to your specifications which is what I really enjoy. For grins and giggles, check out her instagram to look further if you are interested. It is called I heart planners.
The second thing I fancy is baking.
I love to bake and I made these cute little bundtlettes from this Nordic Ware pan I found on Amazon.
At first, I thought it might be difficult to remove the bundtlettes from this intricate pan, but I found that to not be a problem.
The minute I turned the pan over, the little bundtlettes popped right out.
Of course I did a spray of baking spray with flour first.
I have another confession to make.
I should have taken the time to put the powdered sugar icing in a piping bag or baggy and cut the tip off and drizzled the icing over the bundtlettes.
The first one looked so cute as I drizzled with a spoon….
……that I kept going and as you can see, the others have way too much icing….and just are not pretty.
Less is more in my opinion.
Just sayin’
I made the little bundlettes out of a cherry muffin mix, but you could use cranberry/orange or whatever you have on hand.
Or make from scratch.
Remember, I am still in pink mode, so I made the powdered sugar icing and used almond extract and instead of using food coloring, I used the juice from a jar of maraschino cherries.
And I added a maraschino cherry to the center.
Another thing that has caught my fancy is…
……Lilacs and with living in SW Florida…well, the old fashioned lilac bush just ain’t happenin’!!!
However, I have found a Summer Baby Lilac (Leptodermis oblonga) if you are into actual names…that supposedly will grow and bloom in zone 9-11.
We shall see, but the three plants I ordered came (on line of course) in three little pots, so if you don’t have time to transplant into a bigger pot (their suggestion), your plants will not die immediately.
So imagine my surprise when I went outside to water them (because the Captain and I have not had time to plant or transplant anything the last week or so)….and saw tiny lilac blossoms on this wee little plant!!
Now, I know your next question is how do they smell?
The jury is still out on that as I really couldn’t smell that wonderful Spring lilac smell with only a couple little blooms.
So I will keep you posted on what is going on in the lilac dept in my Secret Garden.
The last thing I am going to show you is…
wait for it…
TADUM!!!
A beautiful pink apple and shimmering pink pear that I fell in love with on line and I just had to order them.
And yes, that is a PINK ginger jar in the background.
Ignore that person behind the curtain! LOL
The apple and the pear are about 8 inches tall.
Aren’t they bee-yoo-ti-ful? LOL
I know…I am definitely hooked on pink and I notice a lot of others are too…so perhaps we should form a support group.
How do you ,dear readers, feel about affiliate advertising in a blog?
I would love to hear your thoughts.
Have a great and Blessed day.

You know I love those cute little Bundtlets all decked out with a pink drizzle. A while back I seen the mini Bundt pan at Penney’s and it was way too expensive for my taste. I’ll have to check out the one on Amazon. Recently, I signed up for Adsense and the few ads I have show up on my sidebar. A few extra coins to help maintain my blog would be nice but I don’t like lots of ads/videos, etc.

I hear ya Sandra….I think you would have drizzled your frosting better than I did…your desserts are phenomenal.

What is it with pink? I love it too! I don’t have much in the house that I have out all the time, but check out my dishes and there it is! I love the little bundts! They are cuties!
Kari says
And they tasted so good too.

Your pink! Your apple and pear! Those little cakes are adorable. OH HOW I miss my LILACS! I hope to see a few in bloom when we go to the Lake House! Your lilacs are going to add such beauty to your Florida gardens.
And to think… if I saw a lot of adds popping up, stomach fat removal ads are just a mention… I would have never read your beautiful post!
Bloggers who know how to make those ads stay off to the side and neatly organized… they need to be applauded!
Enjoy your pink! We sure do!
Kari says
You are too kind my friend. I agree about those pop up ads and another pop up that can be irritating to me (and I hope it does not pop up on mine) is after you have already subscribed to a blog….and you open it to read the post for the day, a pop up appears asking you to subscribe to the blog!!!!
I would think there is a filter or something that tells the “blog”…I am already a subscriber.
Have a great day.
Nancy says
Nothing pops up when I read your blog. But I know what you mean… I agree!
Kari says
thanks for checking Nancy.

Enjoyed reading the post, and I think hobby blogging is a WONDERFUL thing! I know there is much more ease and fun to be had, that’s for sure.
I don’t mind having an ad on the sidebar, or one (*maaaaybe* two?) within a post, but as a blogger and reader, more than that can irritate me and often is confusing (which image belongs to who?).
With that said, I started blogging because I had a hard time finding blogs that dealt with the challenges of small rental home living. And, as a singe-again-middle-aged-empty-nester-mom/g’ma, I’m hoping to eventually blog FT and use it for retirement. I know… BIG dreams, right?
However, ultimately, I hope that the blog brings much glory to the Lord, and if even one person SOMEHOW comes to know Him through the blog, it will all be worth it!
Hugs, Kari! Thanks for sharing, and letting us share!

I feel the same way… and one time I clicked on what I thought was a continuation on a post, only to be taken to another site completely and I really didn’t care about the subject being advertised there…if you get my drift. Wow! Drift!! that is an old and dating term isn’t it?LOL
Couldn’t have said it better myself Julie…I had someone tell me a while back that my post that day lifted her up and inspired her to go back to the Bible verse I suggested and that it was just what she needed. We all need to put on the armor of God so that we can be prepared to help others in whatever capacity it takes to reach them. Amen?
Thanks for sharing my friend.

Sign me up for your pink support group Kari, I am loving pink lately! Your pink pear and apple are amazing! I don’t mind subtle ads but prefer to keep my blog ad free, I won’t read blogs with annoying and distracting pop up ads everywhere. I blog to push my creativity, to share, and to give back…
Jenna
Kari says
Thanks Jenna and you know we are addicted to pink don’t you? LOL Is there hope that a green or yellow will catch our eye soon?
Your blog is amazing and you always have so much talent and creativity that truly inspires us…. so thank you for that.

Hi Kari, I love your favorite things, I will definitely check out the planner. I always love your transparency, you just put it out there and it is so refreshing. I also have a not for profit blog, it is just a hobby that I enjoy. I did sell one of my photos once that graced an Alabama publication, that is just about it for making money. I realize many make lots of money from their blogs and I applaud them. Have a wonderful day sweet friend❤️
Kari says
thanks Pam, and there are a lot of us who write not for profit blogs.
I do it because I love to tell stories or show a recipe or my latest tablescape or something I have made or bought…which is why I use the category on most of my posts: “Confessions Over-the-fence”. I feel like I am talking to a friend over the fence and of course I will tell it like it is.
I have made so many great friends, such as yourself, that I have come to know…. that one can not put a price on that.
The best things in life are free.

I have just started blogging myself and it is only a hobby, I don’t plan to make any money on it. But I applaud those who do. When I land on some blogs though there is so much clutter, boxes and ads, that I move on. I don’t mind a few but sometimes it looks impersonal, like a real commercial operation. The personal touch is missing. Just my two cents!
Kari says
Thanks Beth, first off welcome to the world of blogging.
Secondly, thanks for your input, I have heard that a lot…and I agree that with so many ads and pop ups, it can get discouraging to just try to read what the blogger is saying.
AND some of the super bloggers have made it more of a commercialized operation as they (and sometimes their spouses) have actually quit their regular jobs and have made their blog their only source of income.
Thank you for your two cents and welcome to Me and My Captain!
