Good Morning!
Friends, I am sure you watch the news and see and hear all that is happening with our country and I am convinced that we are all concerned Americans.
If you’re like me, you can’t watch the news without feeling grieved, saddened and disillusioned.
No matter if you are Republican, Democrat, Independent or as my daughter says; she is none of the above, she is just a citizen of this United States who cares.
Many of you know I was born and raised in Kansas and cheer for the Kansas Jayhawks basketball, Kansas City Chiefs Football and Kansas City Royals baseball.
As the old saying goes, “you can take the girl out of Kansas, but you can’t take Kansas out of the girl.”
Having said that, it brings to mind something that happened 28 years ago in my state.
You see, in 1996, the Kansas State Legislature invited a Pastor from Wichita, Kansas to give the invocation at their opening session.
It caused quite a “stir” or reaction and became front page news.
During this prayer, a few legislators got up and walked out.
Still others cheered the Pastor and others from the far left from all four corners of the nation attacked the Pastor and his church.
It shook many of the hearers then.
In light of our culture, it sounds even more radical now.
Below is the prayer:
Pastor Joe Wright’s Prayer
“Heavenly Father, we come before You today to ask Your forgiveness, and to seek Your direction and guidance.
We know Your Word says, ‘Woe to those who call evil good.’ And that’s exactly what we’ve done.
We’ve lost our spiritual equilibrium.
We’ve inverted our values.
We confess that we’ve ridiculed the absolute Truth of Your Word in the name of moral pluralism.
We’ve worshiped other gods and called it ‘multiculturalism.’
We’ve endorsed perversion and called it ‘alternative lifestyle.’
We’ve exploited the poor and called it a ‘lottery.’
We’ve neglected the needy and called it ‘self-preservation.’
We’ve rewarded laziness and called it ‘welfare.’
Father, in the name of ‘choice,’ we have killed our unborn, and then in the name of ‘right to life,’ we’ve killed abortionists.
We’ve neglected to discipline our children and called it ‘building esteem.’
We have abused power and called it ‘political savvy.’
We have coveted our neighbor’s possessions and called it ‘taxes.’
We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it ‘freedom of expression.’
We’ve ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it ‘enlightenment.’
Search us, O God, know our hearts today, try us and show us any wickedness in us. And then cleanse us from every sin and set us free.
Guide and bless these men and women who have been sent here by the people of Kansas and who have been ordained by You to govern this great state. Grant them Your wisdom to rule and may their decisions direct us to the center of Your will.
I ask it in the name of Your Son the Living Savior, Jesus Christ.
Amen.”
My dear friends, Did you know that the American Declaration of Independence has a direct link with Christian influence in many ways. Nowhere has there been a better example of liberty and justice than in the United States of America, and this is because America was founded on Christian principles.
The American Constitution was signed by 39 men, most of whom were professing Christians.
Unfortunately, as a nation we have turned from God and His principles.
Proverbs 11:14 “For lack of guidance a nation falls,…..
I hope you pray with me this prayer:
God our Father, giver of life, we entrust the United States of America to your loving care.
You are the rock on which this nation was founded.
You alone are the true source of our cherished rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
Reclaim this land for your glory and dwell among your people.
In Jesus Name we pray
AMEN
Blessings Always

Thank you Kari for being brave enough to post what many of us know, think and pray every day for.
Kari says
Thank you Lynda for your kind comments and thank you for praying for our country…with your prayers and many, many others we can make a difference. Blessings always.
Sandy and Ron Marshall says
Oh, Kari, you’re so brave to post this. I hope you don’t lose any readers. I pray every day for our country and the whole world in Jesus’s name. There are so many atheists in our world. Some of it is due to science because many scientists believe aliens made us humans. It’s just unbelievable.
Thank you for this brave lady.
Love you,
Sandy and Ron
Kari says
Thank you Sandy. Blessings to you and Ron….
the Painted Apron says
Amen Kari, the worst is people burning our flag…
Jenna
Kari says
Yes Jenna, Believe it or not, I literally cry when I see them burning our flag…and I think of those who gave their lives or lost limbs or worse for the freedoms these people enjoy on a daily basis. We need to teach our children, many of whom do not even know our history. My great grandson who is 5 has been texting me with images of our flag, eagle, and gold medals during these Olympics, I am so proud of him and his parents teaching.
God help us as we are destroying our country.
Nancy says

Pam says
Kari, Amen and Amen. I pray for our country. God will not be mocked, what we sow, we will reap! Thank you for being bold, my friend!
Kari says
Pam you are so right…God will not be mocked and time is running out and the fields are ripe and where there is no vision, the people perish. Proverbs 29:18
Maryann says
It is also troubling that some worship the universe instead of the One who created it!
Kari says
You are so right Maryann, people take for granted our planet and all that is within without a thought to who created it and us. Glory be to God…prayers always for our country. Thanks for stopping by.
Rita C. says
Amen, Kari.
Kari says
Thank you Rita…These days we need to hit our knees in prayer for our country.
