Celebrating The Red, White And Blue!
Welcome to Celebrating the 4th of July with a red, white and blue table setting.
I love Patriotic Holidays and celebrating Memorial Day, Flag Day, 4th of July, Labor Day and Veteran’s Day are such a joy for me.
When I was a child…our family celebrated each of these holidays with a large family potluck, usually in the park… and they always included homemade ice cream.
I loved to help with the cranking of the ice cream…not by cranking but by sitting on the stack of old towels atop the White Mountain ice cream freezer while my grandpa, uncles and my father took turns at hand cranking. We still carry on this tradition on all Patriotic holidays but now I help by plugging in the electric ice cream freezer! Once in a while, we drag out the ole’ hand cranker, but the electric one is so much easier.
I also like to set a pretty table inside our home, however if we have invited more people, I use paper plates and plastic utensils and we have our pot luck near the pool. However, I do leave the Patriotic table set up inside…just because I like to look at it and remember why we are celebrating.
So, lets get started with the table details starting with a red, white and blue table runner. Round place mats are also red, white and blue.
For the centerpiece I chose the White House. It is a model that I bought earlier this year and the instructions said a 4 year old could put it together and I wish I could have found a 4 year old…but I finally managed to assemble it. LOL. I sat a small pair of bluebirds beside it (also not to scale but I call them the blue birds of happiness) What is your dream? LOL
The plate stack begins with a white dinner plate with a red, silver and blue star border and sitting atop it are blue salad plates with past Presidents: George Washington, ….
Abraham Lincoln,
Dwight D. Eisenhower
and John F. Kennedy busts. I also had navy blue star shaped appetizer plates that I set on top of the stack.
Red, White and Blue flatware sits atop navy blue napkins with blue stars. I started out using the flag Napkin rings on the bulky napkins,
but decided I liked the napkin rings placed just above the forks.
Mount Rushmore busts are the salt and pepper shakers.
Even though the scale is off…I placed Byers Choice Presidential Carolers around the table…. and on the sidebar I placed the Revolutionary Soldiers…and Betsy Ross.
I really like collecting the Byers Choice Carolers…Do you have any of their carolers? I also have other figurines but I particularly like these from the Colonial period.
They are Benjamin Franklin holding a kite and key.
Thomas Jefferson holding the Declaration of Independence.
George Washington preparing to cross the Delaware.
Abraham Lincoln with the Gettysburg Address in his hand.
I have two sets of glasses on the table….and one set is near and dear to my heart because my sweet friend, a fellow blogger, (Pam from Everyday Living) used a similar set in several of her posts over the years. She informed readers the glasses were purchased at Horchow’s, but had long been discontinued. I have always admired the blue speckled glasses and a couple years ago, I happened upon a set from Etsy while looking for blue stemware. I ordered the set hoping they would be as pictured and when they arrived, I looked at one of them, re-wrapped it and promptly put it back in the box and stored them away. Out of sight; out of mind…until Pam used them again in one of her recent posts. I started thinking about the glasses and the search was on. They were still in the original re-packing box buried on a shelf in my garage. (I have to admit I DO need to go out there a little more often and perhaps de-clutter and organize my stash). But not today. 🥴 So thanks Pam for your inspiration. I added them to the table even though there is no red on the stemmed glasses. I sat them beside a red, white and blue swirl water glass that I found on-line a few months ago.
The six, small, red, white and blue votives I have had for years as is all the other pieces on my Patriotic table with the exception of the red, white and blue swirl water glasses.
My Menu for this year’s 4th of July is a little different. We will be having Lobster Rolls, (cold Lobster) Potato Salad, Cole Slaw, Deviled Eggs, Home made Lemonade and for dessert Carrot Cake (The Captain’s favorite) and home made ice cream).
I am hoping the predicted rain for the 4th here in Florida does not amount to much, but we will be on the Lanai celebrating anyway.
Have a safe and Blessed 4th of July and God Bless America!

Wow Kari, your patriotic table is so lovely. So many wonderful details. I am blown away with the Mount Rushmore , Abraham Lincoln, Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson. I am thrilled to feature your beautiful table at Love Your Creativity. Happy summer. Hugs

thank you Laura, so good to hear from you. Hope this finds you and yours well. I think of you often and the mischief we would get into. 🥰
I missed this!! What a lovely tablescape. I so enjoy all your collections.
Your menu is delicious! Yum!
thanks Nancy for stopping by. I have such fun playing with my dishes. …and I love the red white and blue as I know you do too. Have a great week.
Oh Kari, I’m just so in love with all the elements on your patriotic table!!! You did a fabulous job and oh my, that Whitehouse is amazing! My late beloved and I went to Williamsburg for our honeymoon and all your colonial pieces reminded me of that. I have a grandson that was in the marines and I have one presently in the army, so I love patriotism. Thank you for all of this! 💙🇺🇸❤️
Thanks for stopping by Kitty…the Captain and I are red, white and blue to the core….just as you and your sweet husband. What lovely memories you must have of your honeymoon. I don’t know if you know but I lost my husband too. He was a Navy man as was all his family and our twin boys. The Captain and I have been married over 20 years now, but I will always have sweet memories of my late husband. Have a great and Blessed week.
Hello Kari! I hope your celebration was fabulous. I love your menu! I also sat on top of the ice cream freezer as a child, so many sweet memories with those hand cranked freezers. You pulled out all the stops with your beautiful patriotic Tablescape. Like you, I just love the red, white, and blue. The runner, placemats, plate stack with the busts of Presidents, the flatware, and then the stemware all combine for a celebration of the red, white, and blue. The White House centerpiece is stunning. Now to the Byers Choice Carolers. Your collection is amazing, love all of them. I have a collection that my beloved Mother started for me many years ago. She added to my collection each year along with a sweet friend that gave me several. I use them at Christmas, but I have a few from the founding of our nation. How sweet of you to give me a shout out and I appreciate your kindness.
I am so happy to call you my sister in Christ 🙏🏻🇺🇸❤️🤍💙🇺🇸🙏🏻
Thank you Pam for your kind words and for both of our memories of times gone by. Gone but never forgotten.

The Captain and I enjoyed the 4th and of course had to have that ice cream. Our friends would think we were not well if we didn’t serve them this wonderful delicacy. Apparently In the 19th century, ice cream manufacture was simplified with the introduction of the ice cream machine in 1843 in both England and America. …and for that I am thankful.
Speaking of memories…My Mother always insisted we all lay out our clothes on Saturday that we would wear to church on Sunday, and that is something I still do to this day. So off to my closet before we have dinner and more of that decadent ice cream.
Hugs my dear friend.
Blessings Always
Dear Kari,
A wonderful patriotic table scape. I loved all of it. We didn’t have potluck dinners on the 4th, but we had hotdogs, hamburgers, potato salad, baked beans at my mom’s sister’s house. They had an outdoor stone fireplace where we cooked the burgers and dogs. We also made our own ice cream the difficult way. lol
Happy 4th of July my dear friend.
Love you,
Sandy
P.S. I really like your new picture with your natural hair.
Thanks Sandy…I like that I don’t have to go to the beauty shop and get it highlighted and or colored! LOL
It wouldn’t be 4th of July without home made ice cream now would it? The younger folk these days just have a questioning look when we talk about ice cream not from Dairy Queen or Baskin-Robbins. LOL Have a fun and safe 4th my dear one. Hugs and Blessings to you and Ron.
Kari, your table is 4th of July Fabulous! The White House Centerpiece is grand and I am swooning over your Byer Caroler collection! [My sis-in-law collects them too] Where did you ever find the Mt Rushmore S&P? Love love the flag flatware and I always drool over Pam’s blue glasses, how lucky to find some! Have a wonderful summer, and you could always remove the place settings and leave the runner, White House & S&Ps on your table until Labor Day! Happy 4th Kari, your menu sounds wonderful!
Thank you Jenna…I do love the red, white and blue! I have had the flag flatware for over 10 years as I had them in KC so I most likely got them at Bed Bath & Beyond when they had their stores. I believe I found the Mount Rushmore salt and peppers at Etsy or Ebay….probably Ebay. It is interesting that we just came back from the Rapid City area (Our two month motorhome trip) and I didn’t see anything to add to my table. About 35 years ago, I would buy Salt & Peppers at every tourist stop until I was finally out of space at home. So I boxed them all up shortly before moving to Seattle and donated them to Good Will…🥴. Now I wish I had them all back. 😊 You are right about leaving part of the set up until Labor Day…I say take the easy road these days. LOL. Enjoy the 4th with your wonderful family and know that you are always in my prayers. Hugs and Blessings.
Ooh, Kari, I LOVE your patriotic tablescape! From the White House to the presidential plates and Mt Rushmore salt & peppers, and that stemware like Pam’s! (note: her table definitely inspired me to look for something similar online!). This is such a fun tablescape to even just look at as part of the home decor. I don’t have any Byers Choice Carolers, but your choices are superb. Love it all! Happy 4th, and God Bless America!
Rita thanks for stopping by and I am glad I wasn’t the only one to admire those glasses. I was almost embarrassed to admit I had “forgotten” them…LOL. A funny thing also happened in my search…I found I had purchased something else and stored it out in the garage. I laughed at myself at the time because I just recently purchased a duplicate thinking I had never purchased it before. Now for the “funny”??? part…I can’t remember what it was. 🥴🥴🥴🥴 Happy 4th and God Bless America my friend.
Oh Kari, there is so much to love about this patriotic table setting. Of course the red, white, and blue is almost a must but your addition of the Byers Choice Carolers and the pretty blue Presidential salad plates really make this a stunning table. Had to chuckle over the forgotten speckled blue glass purchase. That’s why I write down (yes the old paper and pencil way) whenever I make a table related purchase. Of course you have to check the notebook every once in awhile. My father’s side of the family (he was one of thirteen) and they always held a family potluck on the Fourth in a park. My father provided the homemade ice cream with my uncles taking turns cranking it. Thanks for the sweet memories.
Oh Jan you are so right to using pen and paper…I just can’t get used to using my phone’s note pad and calendar…I guess that is why I am older then dirt. LOL. I still like the “Old” way of doing things. Wow! when we speak of family potlucks and home made ice cream we are almost speaking of obsolete times, aren’t we? It is so nice to hear from you my friend. I hope you have an enjoyable 4th…it is supposed to be wet here which might hamper the Red, White and Boom Fireworks display here in the Cape. We watch it from our home or on TV…old foggies that we are. LOL
Wow Kari, you pulled out of the stops for this very patriotic table. Love the White House and those darling soldiers. So many fun accessories you have. The plate stack is lovely. Gotta love the Americana flatware and glasses. What’s not to love. You have included Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln and more. Your menu sounds delicious. Gob bless America and your charming family.
Thanks Linda for your kind comments. You and I have a lot of the same tastes in decor but I have to bow to YOU the Queen of Inspiration. Thank you for stopping by my friend.
