Quick And Easy To Make Halloween Treats For A Party… Or Just For You!
I love easy to make treats….
You know the kind that you just assemble.
They call out to me, you know.
I hear them say…use me to make a broom stick..or you can eat the candy as you go.
Not that I would ever do anything like that.🥰
I have been scouting recipes for “quick” Halloween treats and I have found a couple that I would like to share with you.
Very simple and with things you already have on hand.
And you don’t have to be a kid to enjoy them.
Don’t ask me how I know that.
First up is a hot chocolate mix….the recipe is below or use your favorite recipe. And then you can “dress” the hot chocolate up a bit by cutting a marshmallow in half and sticking chocolate morsels in awkward places to resemble the eyes.
Most people love hot chocolate…I know the Captain and I both do….and on this Fall morning…it was very rainy and cool…and a perfect time to have a steaming cup of hot chocolate. I like putting a marshmallow with chocolate chip eyes in each cup. So easy to do. Just cut each marshmallow in half and stick a chocolate chip (pointy end down) into the cut half. You don’t have to worry about dead center with the chips because it just makes the eyes a little strange looking.
The dry mix recipe will make about 5-6 cups of mix…which should yield you about 24 cups of chocolate depending on the size of your cups and the amount of chocolate mix you use.
We like a rich, dark chocolate…but you may prefer it to be a lighter milk chocolate.
Another quick Halloween treat is to make Witch’s Hats….you can use any cookie for the base and put a bit of frosting around a Hershey’s kiss.
So simple..and who does’t like chocolate and chocolate?
Another quickie is to make treat is the Witch’s Brooms using mini peanut butter cups, a little frosting and a pretzel stick..
Really that simple….the pretzel stick is the broom stick. Yummy.
Or why not buy your cupcakes at the supermarket (or make your own) and decorate the top with Halloween picks!
Make it easy on yourself.
Last year, there were no children dressed in costumes at our door. However this year we may have a few as two families have moved into our neighborhood recently.
It seems that in some places, door-to-door trick or treating has been replaced by celebrations at churches or shopping malls in an effort to protect these wee ones.
Our church holds a trunk or treat which is so much safer. The Captain and I buy bags of individually wrapped candy to hand out at this event.

In Arizona, we get lots of kids on Halloween. We enjoy sitting out front and passing out treats.

Kari, at Halloween I like hot mulled cider and save the hot cocoa with marshmallows for rainy or cold, snowy days. Love all your cute treats to go with the cocoa but the brooms are my favorite. One year I added a tissue to lollypops and used a marker to make eyes for little ghost treats. That’s another easy peasy Halloween treat for kids.

We used to have lots of kids at our door, but not anymore. On the cul de sac they have a party in the neighborhood for the kids now . Things change over time. Some good, some not so good.

How come you get to have all the fun? I am sure he has grown since I saw him last….give him kisses for me.
We sat outside last evening in an effort to “see” all the little goblins and ghosts…but, alas….there was nary a one.
A jogger went by and I asked him if he was trick or treating and he laughed and said…they never have any at their house..so they didn’t buy any candy this year…BUT he does coach a high school football team and he said he would bring them all down if that would help.!!!
I told him only if they were in full football uniforms and we all laughed.
I felt like Charley Brown in the pumpkin patch waiting on the Great Pumpkin…..

Mom everything looks so yummy. I usually have maybe five or six Trick or treaters but tonight I will be at Melanie’s house watching your great grandson so they can have date night. So we will see

I always looked forward to Halloween every year…and our costumes were always home made. Many times I went as a gypsy just so I could wear Mom’s skirts and blouses (long on me) and her jewelry and scarves and make-up!

Kari, I prefer dark chocolate. I love hot chocolate. A nice cup of hot chocolate, or hot pumpkin spiced tea is yummy, and a blanket to curl up in with a good book is a perfect way to spend Halloween.
We do have a lot of kids in our neighborhood, and they always end up at our door. They’re so cute. We usually have around thirty or forty, but more if they come from other neighborhoods.
