Autumn Retro Par-tee Snack
I know you remember the Chex Mixes…There are so many variations out there dating way back into the 70’s and beyond that.
You have made them or at least eaten them at one tine or another in your life time.
Well, I am going to show you another version if you haven’t already tried this variation.

This variation I call the Autumn Retro Par-tee Snack.
This snack is perfect for those cool, crisp evenings by the fireplace or when watching your favorite football team on a Sunday afternoon…in our case, it is the Kansas City Chiefs football team or the Kansas Jayhawks college football or basketball teams.
The ingredients are simple as are the other variations we have eaten and loved.

Of course, Chex mix is front and center. You can use the three kinds, wheat, corn and rice Chex mix cereals or you can use your favorite one. I favor the corn Chex myself. I added Cheez-Its because who doesn’t love them? They can be addictive. Also, in the “mix” is Reece’s Pieces because of the Autumn colors of the peanut butter candies, mini pretzels and of course peanuts are always a favorite. Another snack ingredient is small marshmallows for their white color and one can’t have an Autumn mix without candy corn.

Whereas the original party mix was melted butter, Season Salt, Worcestershire sauce, garlic and onion powder —–This recipe calls for melted butter, honey or maple syrup and cinnamon spice. I used this recipe for our Friday Ladies Bible Study. I served it with hot spiced tea in the cups that say ‘Pumpkin Spice Everything nice’ for those that wanted it. yum!

You can change up the cereals and other ingredients to whatever are your favorite snacks. Any nut will work, although I like the sweet and salty combination of a salted nut, such as peanuts, You could also add any dried fruit such as cranberries, apricots, bananas…well, you get the picture. Once I added a package of salad toppings consisting of dried cranberries, sunflower seeds and walnuts. Yummy.

Oh, I also want to share four things I have found. As you know, I host a weekly Friday Bible Study and sometimes, one of the ladies will have to use the facilities (or bathroom as I know it) …and so they have noticed a few changes in the room and have asked how or what and how much. So I decided to share the items ….. so If you are not interested, just scroll below to the recipe for the Autumn Retro Par-Tee Snack.
One of the items that is fairly new…as in early last January…is a storage basket for extra rolls of toilet paper. I didn’t want the ladies having to open all the cabinets looking for a new roll…so I found a neat basket that holds 3 rolls and I placed it on the back of the toilet tank and it fits nicely. If you are interested, here is the link for this basket.
Another item was this cute little stick on light. You see this bathroom is in a rather dark hallway and since it is a motion detection light, it comes on automatically when a person moves towards the door and they can see where the light switch is located etc. I have put the little stick on light on the side of the toilet bowl, but it can be placed anywhere in the room. It has rechargeable batteries and has an on/off switch and so far, I haven’t had to recharge the batteries. I like the extra light without an actual night light.
One of the ladies commented that my bathroom always smelled so nice and I had to admit that there are times I light a candle in that room for obvious reasons, but I believe the clean smell is a result of a cleaner that I use. I am not saying the cleaner odor IS the smell… but because it is a great cleaner there does not seem to be a smell. Does that make sense? When you spray your sink or toilet, the foam is purple. As it cleans the foam turns white, then you wipe it down and you have cleaned with little effort. My kind of cleaning. Click on the link “cleaner” here or above if interested.
Lastly, I want to include something that I use that no one would actually see, but for me it is a game changer. It is a toothpaste squeezer but I also use it for my tube of make-up. I don’t like to feel that I am leaving product in the tube when I can no longer manually squeeze it out with my fingers….and I don’t like cutting into the tube because I feel I am wasting product… So far, this has worked on both those tubes.

I’m sorry to be so late, Kari. I have loved the party mixes ever since they came out. I add all kinds of nuts to my mix and I make the old style party mix.
Hugs,
Sandy

Is there anything better than Chex Mix!?! Kari, I have loved it as long as I can remember! I have made it with many variations but never with honey or maple syrup. Using Reese’s pieces is genius as well as the Autumn spices. I will have to try your recipe asap!
Jenna this is so good, I have to grab a few pieces each time I walk by….LOL. Thanks for stopping by and Happy October. Stay well.🙏🏻🎃🍁
The chex cereals have the preservative BHT which causes cancer. Also cancer cells feed on sugar. Just wanted to let you know.
thank you Joellyn. I do know BHT is in a lot of make-up and some foods as a spoilage preventative. I will check up on chex cereals….I usually eat cheerios but like to eat party mixes. thanks for stopping by. Happy October
