Copper Christmas Centerpiece And The Gingerbread Village!

I have a confession…I like to paint. If it comes to me in blue…I am going to paint it pink!

I spray paint to get the color I like as I did with the black candle stands you see below.

So come on over.  The teapot and coffee pot are on…Do you hear the tea kettle singing?

I am waiting for you to join me for warm banana nut bread as I share a centerpiece and vignette that is so easy.

My friends, I want to share with you a vignette centerpiece and Gingerbread Village I created a couple years ago using a can of spray paint.  Many times when searching for a particular element for your home…don’t walk away if it is not the color you would like.  I purchase it and spray paint it to be the color I want.  Below is an example of what spray paint can do.

Gingerbread Village centerpiece table

This centerpiece started with burlap table runners, which you can find here.

I love the juxtaposition of the rustic burlap, grapevine sleigh, and shiny copper metal with the elegant feel of the champagne colored glasses.

Gingerbread Village

The bottom runner has an open weave while the top runner has a closer weave. You have seen both of these table runners in many of my tablescapes. You can see them here,  Thanksgiving Dinners and Carving The Bird in case you missed it. I also like the layering of fabrics ….don’t be concerned with too many patterns.  Do what you like, there are no hard and fast rules when it comes to decorating your table.

I had received the copper bowl several years ago from Only Daughter.   It came with a beautiful yellow and gold flower arrangement for my November birthday.

I really like the copper pedestal bowl and have used it numerous times for different decor.  In the above pic, it anchors one end of the table.  I added simple copper colored ornaments as well as gold ornaments.

The tall candle holders were originally black, but out came a can of copper spray paint and I sprayed sporadically to give a weathered/worn effect.  When doing it this way, one does not have to get the paint job perfect.  So much easier.

I actually didn’t mind the spray getting on a few of the already attached greenery at the base and under the candles.  I had tried to take the greenery off, but it looked like it was on there for life, so I just left it alone and I really liked the way the candle holders turned out.

I had a large glittery deer in the sitting position, so I placed him on one side of the candle holder and a rustic sleigh that I found at Old Time Pottery a couple years ago, in the center of the table.  I put copper and gold ornaments in the rustic grapevine sleigh.

Gingerbread VillageThe chilled egg nog below gave a frosted look to the copper mule mug.  I really liked that affect.

The copper mule mugs I found at Sam’s Club years ago and I loved the cardinal sitting on a spool of twine…it is actually a Christmas ornament, but I loved the pop of red color it gave to the table.

Gingerbread Village I purchased the champagne colored water glasses at Pier 1, several years ago.

To complete the rustic look, I placed a few cinnamon scented pine cones in and around the table.

Now on to the Gingerbread Village…

The Gingerbread Village is one of my favorite vignettes and it usually sits on one of my kitchen counters, although it has been known to move around. 🥰

Gingerbread Village My houses are from Byer’s Choice and the bottle brush trees are from Amazon.  You can see them here.

Each year I add a little somethin’ somethin’ such as the North pole sign.  You can find similar signs here.

Gingerbread VillageDo you like to collect items for a Christmas vignette to set around your home?  I call my decorating the “collected” Look as it mixes the old with the new.

  1. Hello, dear Kari. Please forgive me for commenting so late. After surgery, it just takes me longer to do things.
I love your Christmas Gingerbread village. What a lovely collection to share at Christmas. It’s so beautiful.
I would love some banana nut bread with my coffee, please. Your copper touches are so lovely. They add such warmth. Your candlesticks are perfect! Well done!
    Thanks for having us in.
    Merry December!

    1. No worries my friend, I know how difficult it can be once one has surgery…but I also know you are so resilient and so prepared for your Holiday decorating…that you will be running races before very long. I do love copper and a more rustic look at Christmas even though I have been known to use more modern themes from year to year. Perhaps it is that I’m getting older that I find myself thinking of Christmas past and how we children loved a mismatched decorated tree that was a tradition at our home. Remember the bubble lights? We always had them on our tree and I have seen them in a more modern version but have yet to buy them. Maybe next year. Take care my friend….I care. 🎄🎄🎄❤️🙏🏻

  2. This is all so lovely, Kari. I’m a fan of copper too — and of all things Christmas! So seeing what you did with the paint and all was a great idea. I love how you incorporated your daughter’s copper bowl as a focal point. It’s both personal and works to effectively. Your gingerbread village is so cute, so happy. I tend to favor a rustic, homey look at the holidays — lots of red and green and traditional colors, and so this really resonates with me.

    1. thanks Jeanie for taking the time to comment on my post,…I know you are recuperating and I realize how much time it takes to get things done when one has surgery. You are amazing my friend. Yes, I love rustic and red and green at Christmas…makes me think of my childhood when my Mother put on the bubble lights on our tree and every single construction paper decoration that we girls made at school. No fancy themes like we do these days…just an old fashioned tree with every color imaginable on the tree. Sigh….as I age, I find myself reminiscing more and more. Happy December my friend. Take care! 🥰🎄❤️

The gingerbread village is a special set. I’m not remembering if you’ve ever set a table with those, but that would be really nice!

    1. Thanks Rita, I believe I have used the Gingerbread Village before, I will have to look back. I know I have done a Christmas table of the 12 days of Christmas with about 10-12 houses. yes, I need to check past posts. Thanks for stopping by.🎄🥰🎄

  5. Kari, the two large candle holders repainted are beautiful. When they are lit, they must spread a warm glow over the whole table. Your copper bowl, the mugs and ornaments all reflect the light making this a perfect Christmas centerpiece. I love combining the copper with red, green, and shades of browns. Thank you for your always inspirational, fun, and uplifting blog. Wishing you a Merry Christmas!

    1. I do love copper Jan…and your pairing it with red, green and brown sounds beautiful. I will have to try that.

What do you think of D. Peterson finally playing against Mizzou? I hope he can get stronger quickly and that the rest of the team step up like they did when he was on the bench.

      Merry Christmas dear one.🎄🎄🙏🏻🥰🔔🏀

  7. Hi Kari, I love your vignette on the table. A can of spray paint can do wonders! The copper exudes warmth and adding two runners is a great idea.
