Setting an Easter Table.
Matthew 28:6 “He is not here; for He has Risen, as He said.”
Tomorrow is Easter Sunday and our church is having a Sunrise Service as we have done for years.
It is a special time as we sit outdoors under a big tent in the early morning hours and celebrate Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection.
Years ago, when I was in high school…our little church in Bennington Kansas would have a sunrise service at our local State Lake.
There happen to be a hill at one end of the lake and some of the elders would put up an old rugged cross and we would have a sunrise service there standing for the whole service and we didn’t mind a bit.
Later we would go back to the church and little ones hunted Easter eggs in the back garden followed by a Potluck dinner as we fellow-shipped together.
How do you celebrate Easter?
Today I am revisiting an older post as we prepare for yet another Glorious Easter week-end.
Setting An Easter Table is easy….and you really don’t need to go out and buy “stuff”. I keep baskets and little egg nests year after year.
And…..I love Peter Cotton Tail …hopping down the Bunny Trail.
There is something about little bunnies that steal my heart
I have a large white ceramic bunny that sits in my Secret Garden all year ’round and when I go out in the early morning hours to have my quiet time….it is comforting to see him sitting there by the pink bougainvillea and bird bath.
And I love to use bunnies in any Spring time vignette or tablescape.
We all know that Easter is much more than bunnies and coloring Easter eggs…it is a time of remembrance of Good Friday, the Cross and He is Risen!
So we celebrate Easter…..and the real meaning for each one of us….and we like to set pretty tables in honor of the occasion.
…….and in the case of this tablescape…I started with four gray place mats placed down the center of my table.
I love mercury glass candlesticks and there are three sizes on my table, two holding candles and one holding a cute little nest of eggs.
Who says one has to “always” put a candle on a candlestick?
I like doing the unexpected.
I also filled two clear glass cylinder vases with pastel colored easter eggs and white dogwood branches.
Love this cute little bunny and carrot salt and pepper shakers.
Another bunny with a basket of fabric carrots that I picked up at Pier 1 a couple years ago.
And yet another bunny holding a speckled Easter egg in his little basket on his back.
I have placed these bunny egg cups at each place setting.
The place settings are simple…..a white dinner plate and salad plate with a white napkin placed in the center of the plate.
On top of the napkin resides a little nest with one Easter egg. A place card can be placed in the little bird’s nest.
The flatware are vintage ivory handled flatware that go nicely with the bubble glass water goblets.
Thank you for visiting Setting an Easter Table.
Have a great and Blessed day!

I love seeing this beautiful post, Kari! All of the bunnies are adorable and the dogwood branches are gorgeous! I enjoyed reading how you celebrated Easter as a child. Those are precious memories, my friend! Happy first day of April!

Thank you Pam. What a glorious time of year…Spring and a renewing of the spirit for sure. I love my early morning quiet time in the courtyard listening to the birds sing hello and seeing hibiscus buds bursting forth. Of course there is the occasional pesky black bird who tries to spoil the peacefulness…but as the old song says…”where the sun always shines, there is a desert below. It takes a little rain to make love grow.” Have a wonderful April my sweet friend.

Happy Easter Kari! I love your beautiful Easter table set with white and pretty pastels. So many adorable bunnies! Your Sunrise Service sounds lovely. We were driving home yesterday after being at the beach for a week and part of of drive goes through small towns. We saw so many people dressed up going and coming from churches! Lots of pretty dresses and Easter bonnets! Our little bunnies had a egg hunt on Saturday. I thought they were too old to get excited about finding candy and eggs, but they had big smiles on their faces and had lots of fun! Happy happy Easter Kari, and Happy April!

Jenna what a wonderful way to spend Easter…at the beach and I know your littles???? enjoyed their egg hunt. These are such great memories. My grands hunted eggs back up in Kansas but I got to see videos of them which brought a few tears but also lots of smiles and laughter. I’m looking forward to April and all the beauty it brings with Spring flowers. I do miss my lilacs, daffodils, forsythia and tulips…but I exchange them for my hibiscus, plumeria, orchids, and palms. Happy April my friend.

Dear Kari, I love your table setting. When I was young, we used to go to sunrise service on Easter. It was a wonderful time in my life. Now, we only go to church on U-Tube. Have a wonderful day today.
Love,
Sandy

Sometimes Sandy, streaming a video is all we can do and there is nothing wrong with that. I did that while I was ill….and we still have our memories and as we age, and now we know why they are called Precious Memories. That hymn is in my mind now:
Precious Memories, how they linger,
how they ever flood my soul,
In the stillness of the midnight,
Precious, sacred scenes unfold.
Thanks for stopping by my friend. Luv you and Ron. Hang in there. XXXOOO

Happy Easter blessings, Kari and Captain. A lovely table. Pier 1 is certainly missed. My girls and their husbands will share a meal with us today at our home, and little J will hunt for a basket and eggs hidden for her.
Kari says
Rita, how fun you get to participate in little J’s Easter egg hunt. My children sent me videos of the little grands hunting eggs. I had tears of joy and laughter. How Blessed we are to be a part of their lives. Thank you for stopping by dear friend. Are you still watching the tournament? I am watching but not as closely as when we were still going deep in the dance. Next year we start over. Rock Chalk! and Go Mountaineers!

Such a lovely Easter table. The egg nests and bunnies are adorable!
I remember when we young girls got all dressed up in our Easter bonnets, new spring dresses, white gloves and new white paptent leather shoes. It was such a special church day.
Happy Easter to you and yours!

Yes Nancy…I loved wearing white gloves and a pretty bonnet. I especially loved a pair of white patent Mary Janes. I felt so grown up and it was such a special day. Happy Easter to you and SM…and thanks for stopping by.

Another beautiful table…thanks…

I just love playing with my dishes Karole and you give me assurance by your comment… that others like to see the different tablescapes. If only one aspect of my tablescapes inspire someone somewhere…then my joy is complete and it validates me.
thanks again.
